How do we take Nani forward??? How can we take her forward….she’s already gone forward..into the light, taking all her brightness, all her charisma, all her magic with her, plunging us all into this big vacuum……Will we ever be able to fill this void, this gaping hole in our hearts and minds…How can mere mortals like us have the audacity to think we can hold a candle to her. She was a legend. She had this amazing ability to connect with people. She could meet someone totally unrelated, from any class of society any age, it could be your driver, your boss or your buddy, for all of ten minutes and the person would become a fan for life, the next time you met that person, they were sure to ask, oh, how’s your nani accompanied by genuine warmth and heartfelt compliments for her. By the way, she would also remember the name of the boss, driver and buddy for the rest of her life and ask about them too, equally genuinely. We all know how that worked. Her legendary “chinta” for everyone, frustrated us all sometimes, but deep down, we were always grateful, that someone was always looking out for us, praying for us and rooting for us, all the time. It is inconceivable that Nani is no more, you can say it aloud a hundred times, it just does not sound right, it does not hit home. The brain is numb, the ears refuse to hear the silence that is caused by her departure. Who’s going to keep khabar of all of us, who is going to make sure everyone knows everyone’s business, that Komal knows that Palli got a certificate and Palli knows that Rayhan has a viral infection. Who’s going to be the chief organizer, of events, big and small; who’s going tell us what to do..who’s going to take care of us????? We are so lost……..but we are also her children and we will try to imbibe her qualities, her values, and her shikhaman, into our lives…. We will take care of each other. We will look out for each other. We will keep in touch with each other. We will try to meet all of us as a family, atleast once a year, prasang or not We will excel in everything we do in our personal and professional lives. We will try and be better human beings. We will make her proud. We will, take her spirit forward, one day at a time. We pray for her and for all of us.
